Fiberglass Pool Width Constraints

Several of our SFP customers, in and around the greater Springfield, IL area at one point or another, voiced concerns about a fiberglass pool being too skinny to provide any real enjoyment. While width needs to be a consideration in your purchasing decision, placing a substantial amount of importance in this one feature may not be your best gauge.

There are many benefits to a fiberglass pool that can be overshadowed if the focus lies heavily on the width limitations. Due primarily to transportation laws, in most cases, fiberglass pools are limited to 16' width. Getting hung up in a few inches can prevent you from enjoying all the benefits that fiberglass provides. Vinyl and concrete pools are more expensive to heat. Fiberglass was designed as an insulator and therefore had much better heat retention properties, and if that were not enough, you would not have to use as many chemicals either. This makes it easier to maintain, as well.

With these few benefits along with quicker installation, you may find a priority shift leaving the dimension limits in the deep end! If you still have reservations, there is no better stamp of approval then by pool owners themselves. SFP can undoubtedly provide a list of references. Yet, surveying on your own will most likely highlight that an inch or two may have seemed like a deal-breaker during the decision process, but once installed, the dimensions didn't take away from the ability to enjoy the pool. In fact, with the growing popularity of outdoor living spaces having a pool that does not entirely dominate that backyard space can be a substantial benefit! As always, our SFP team is happy to guide you through this decision process, so before you make a final decision, let us thoroughly walk you through the pros and cons!
