Great Tips For A Eco-Friendly Pool

Great Tips For A Eco-Friendly Pool

In terms of color, a green pool is the last thing anyone would want. In terms of being environmentally friendly, though, green is the way to go! A lot of people love having pools but feel bad about the related water, energy, and chemical usage. Fortunately, you can own a pool and still be eco-minded, especially if you follow these helpful tips.

Tip #1: Use A Solar Cover

To waste less water, invest in a solar cover. These covers can keep water from evaporating quickly, which means you top off your pool less often. Plus, they can reduce the likelihood of unwanted chemical changes, making it less likely that you’d need to shock your pool or add extra chemicals. Talk about a win-win!

Tip #2: Cut Your Chemical Use

Speaking of chemicals, the fewer you use, the smaller your carbon footprint. However, this does not mean that you should neglect your pool or avoid adding chemicals altogether. Instead, take very good care of your pool and add chemicals as needed, a little at a time. If you keep your water properly balanced all of the time, you may never need to overload it with a bunch of chemicals all at once.

Tip #3: Consider A Cartridge Filter

When it comes to choosing a filter, opt for a cartridge filter whenever possible. These filters tend to be very long lasting, which helps to reduce waste. They are also super simple to clean and only need the tiniest bit of water to stay in tip-top shape

Tip #4: Switch To LEDs

Swimming pool lighting is great. It allows you to enjoy your pool well into the evening hours. However, traditional light bulbs burn up a lot of energy. For this reason, consider switching to LEDs. Not only do they use less energy, but they also last longer, which helps save the planet and your wallet.

Everything people do has some kind of environmental impact.  The trick isn’t to stop doing what you love, like enjoying a pool. It’s to find ways to make the things you love greener. And, by following these helpful tips, you can do exactly that.
