Invest in a Pool or Boat? We Vote Pool
The average family struggles to afford to own several luxury items. In fact, for many families, just one luxury item is really all that they can spring for. If this applies to you and your family, then you may be debating over whether you should opt for a boat or a swimming pool. While that choice is ultimately yours to make, considering a few factors can help you to make the right choice for you and your lifestyle.
Operation Costs
As you probably already know, both a boat and a pool are big expenses upfront. However, both also involve long-term costs for maintenance and more. And, most of the time, a boat will be the more expensive purchase in the long-run.
Boats use up a lot of fuel, which is expensive. Plus, you need to have a place to dock them, which not everyone does. If you don’t have a spot on your property, you’ll likely have to rent one, which can be very expensive.
Pools, on the other hand, do need regular maintenance. You’ll have to buy chemicals or hire a pool service, and you also need to pay to power the pool. However, these costs tend to be much less than what you’d spend on maintaining a boat.
Limits
Something else to consider is how many people can use each choice. With a boat, it all depends on how many people your boat can comfortably sit. If you have enough room for everyone you’d like to bring with you, there’s no problem.
With a pool, though, you’re a lot less limited. Several people can fit into even a medium-sized pool at one time, so it’s a lot more likely you can entertain, throw a party, and invite everyone you want when it’s centered around a pool, rather than a boat.
These are just a couple of many considerations. If you’re still stuck between the two choices, don’t worry! Just do your research, talk to those who will also be using your purchase, and think long and hard about your decision. If you can do that, then you can ultimately arrive at the right choice for you.
