Should You DIY an Inground Pool?

These days, some people are all about “do it yourself” culture. This even extends to major home projects, like putting in a pool.

While pool installation wasn’t something the average person would have dreamed of doing on their own a few years ago, YouTube and How-To websites have gotten people convinced they can do anything these days.

For these reasons, many people are attempting to put in their own fiberglass pools in the Springfield, IL area. And, most of the time, they end up regretting it because this really isn’t a DIY type of job!

It’s Hard

To start with, as you can imagine, digging a spot for a pool and installing it correctly is not easy. It’s actually grueling labor, even with professional equipment and tools.

And, while the videos and articles out there may make it look easy, what’s actually easy is making a mistake or running into a problem that you don’t know how to fix. And, when that happens, you’re either going to have to abandon your project, wasting money in the process, or call in the pros to fix what you’ve done, which means spending more money overall- likely the very thing you were trying to avoid by doing it yourself!

It Often Means Lower-Quality Products

The only way to get a fiberglass pool for self-installation is to buy one direct from the factory or used.

And, in either case, you’re probably going to end up with a lower quality product than you would have if you’d gone through a dealer. Factory-direct pool sellers (and there aren’t a lot of them) are known for offering subpar products, and with a used pool, you never really know what you’re getting!

Why not work with a qualified company that can offer you great pools, installation, and even a warranty to protect your investment? It’s just the better choice all around!

Of course, if you’re still deadest on installing your own pool, you have that right. Just be prepared for it not to go as easily or as smoothly as you might expect, and make sure you have an expert’s number on speed dial just in case.
