Why an Above Ground Pool May Not be the Best Choice
Once you decide to purchase a pool, you will quickly discover that you have a lot of options. There are pools of all types and sizes. Plus, you can even have a pool custom built for your home.
One option you may consider is an above ground pool. People are often drawn to these pools since they can be purchased complete, installed quickly, and typically have a very affordable price tag. And, while above ground pools may work for some, they have some definite drawbacks that you should be aware of before you take the plunge.
They’re Not That Attractive
First things first, you should know that, in general, above ground pools are not as attractive as their in ground counterparts. While there are some nice looking above ground pools, they tend to be more expensive. And, if you’re going to spend a lot, you might as well go ahead and get a more permanent, in ground option.
Above ground pools often look large and bulky. Plus, the cheaper they are, the cheaper they look. If you want something that blends seamlessly into your property, then an in ground pool is the better option.
They’re Not That Durable
Another problem with above ground pools is that they’re not very durable. While they can be well-made, even the best don’t typically last for more than a few years. There are just too many parts and pieces being exposed to water and weather, and these pools typically develop problems within a few years, which just get worse over time. In ground pools, on the other hand, are built with the strongest materials possible and can last for a lifetime if they are properly cared for.
Ultimately, you are the only person who can decide what type of pool is right for you. You may be someone who just wants a simple purchase you can enjoy for a few years. In that case, an above ground pool, despite its downfalls, may suit you just fine. The average buyer, however, is going to get more enjoyment and more value out of a well-made in ground pool.
