Why You Want Multiple Pool Warranties
When you buy a swimming pool, you are making a major purchase, one that you’ll want to protect as much as possible. One way you can protect your investment is by ensuring your pool comes with a warranty. Most pool manufacturers will offer a warranty or even several warranty options for you to choose from. And, often, the best way to protect your pool is by purchasing multiple warranties.
Read Carefully
Whether your warranty is something that comes standard with your pool or something you have to pay extra for, read the details with care before committing. You need to know exactly what a warranty does and does not cover. Not only will this help you to choose the best warranty for your particular pool, but it will also make it so that, should you choose that warranty, you’re informed on your coverage and won't encounter ugly surprises later on down the road. Furthermore, when you know where coverage is lacking, this can help you decide what other warranties to choose.
Workmanship Warranty
Whenever possible, try and get a workmanship warranty on your pool. This type of warranty will protect you in the event that the installer makes a mistake during the installation process. Often, installation errors aren’t noticed until much later, when the pool suddenly develops a leak or other problem. But, if you have a warranty that extends over several years, you can report problems as soon as you notice them. And, if it turns out they were caused by installation defects, repairing them should be covered.
The Gelcoat Finish
If you opt for a fiberglass pool, which is one of the most popular types of pools on the market these days, then ensure you get a warranty solely on or that also covers the pool’s gelcoat finish. That way, if blisters or other problems develop, you’ll be covered. Warranties on the gelcoat finish will typically offer protection for up to 15 years.
The Equipment Warranty
Finally, if you can, opt for a warranty on your actual pool equipment. You may be able to get a warranty on everything from your pump to heater, whether you buy them from your pool installer or through an outside company. The longer your warranty extends, the better since even the best equipment can’t last forever.
As you can see, most warranties don’t offer all of the coverage you need. For this reason, you’ll want to look into having multiple pool warranties when possible. A good rule of thumb, even if you have to pay a little extra for some of these coverages, is to protect as many parts and pieces of your pool as you possibly can. After all, too much protection is always going to be better than not enough!.
