A Small Pool Can Be Superior

A Small Pool Can Be Superior

When people dream of owning their own swimming pools, they often imagine huge bodies of water. However, large pools aren’t practical for everyone. If you have a smaller yard or a smaller budget, you may need a more compact swimming pool. And, while you might feel like you’re “settling” if you opt for a smaller pool, there are actually some surprising advantages.

Get Up Close and Personal

Pools are meant to bring families and friends together. But, in a big pool, it’s all too easy for everyone to go their separate ways. Your teenager, for example, might be sunbathing, while your younger child plays in the shallow end and you swim laps in the deep end. While it’s nice to be able to spread out like this, it doesn’t do much in the way of family bonding time.

Additionally, big pools can make it hard to have a conversation with friends or to keep people from separating off into little cliques. With a smaller pool, everyone is closer, so you can’t help but talk, laugh, and really come together in a meaningful way.

Exercise

You don’t need an Olympic-sized pool to get fit in the water. You can kick your feet, swim small laps, or even swim in place in a small pool. The effectiveness and intensity of your workout is not determined by the size of your pool. It’s determined by the effort you put in. So, know that, even with a small pool, you can still burn some calories, get in some cardio, and feel great.

Savings

As you might imagine, small pools tend to cost a lot less than their larger counterparts. Even better, they don’t just cost less upfront. They cost less in the long run too. You won’t need as many chemicals to maintain them. They don’t require as much water or electricity. In short, they’re one of the most efficient pool ownership options.

Pools come in all sizes, from gargantuan to teeny-tiny. If your pool veers more toward the small size, don’t feel bad. Instead, think positively and consider all the many ways in which small pools can actually be superior. Then, get out there and enjoy your pool because, at the end of the day, it’s not the size that counts. It’s the fun you have in the water!
