Do Fiberglass Pools Need Professional Pool Servicing?

Do Fiberglass Pools Need Professional Pool Servicing?

Often, when people buy swimming pools, they also sign up for a long-term maintenance plan. With this plan, they may have pool professionals come out to service their pools on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, this type of professional servicing isn’t necessary for all pools, particularly fiberglass pools.

Fewer pH Adjustments

Most pool services will check the pH of the water and then make adjustments as needed. However, fiberglass pools very rarely need adjustments. At most, you’ll only have to adjust the pH levels twice during the season. That’s because fiberglass pools do not react with the pH of your water the way that other types of pools do. And, with such infrequent pH adjustments, there’s really no reason to hire a regular service.

The Water Stays Cleaner

Fiberglass pools also tend to need fewer chemicals in order to stay clean. This is due in large part to their non-porous surfaces. This means you won’t have to test the water or add chemicals nearly as often as you would with a concrete pool. While you should still do so, it can easily be done on your own, especially when the need is so infrequent.

You Can Do it All Yourself

As you can see, fiberglass pools are less needy and demanding than other types of pools. But, with that said, they should still be cared for. While you won’t have to brush the walls unless there’s a problem, you should vacuum the pool regularly, remove debris each night, and frequently check to make sure every part and piece is functioning correctly. Also, you may need to call on a professional service if any serious problems develop, so it’s still good to have the number of a service on hand just in case.

Ultimately, though, you’ll be able to take care of most of your pool needs on your own.

When it comes down to it, fiberglass pools are a better option than concrete pools in a lot of ways. And, requiring less professional care is definitely a big benefit! So, if you’re unsure of which pool to buy, definitely consider a fiberglass pool. You’ll quickly find that it has other advantages in store as well.
