Size Isn't Everything When it Comes to Swimming Pools

Swimming pools are a wonderful, fun addition to any home. However, there’s a tendency among homeowners to get the biggest swimming pools they can possibly afford. And, while that’s fine if you have a large family or want to host big pool parties, it’s not always necessary. In fact, in many ways, a smaller pool can be a smarter choice.

The Kids Will be Just as Satisfied

A lot of the time, the people purchasing pools are parents, and they’re making the purchase largely for their kids. Of course, kids are going to want the biggest pool around. But, when it comes right down to it, they’re really not going to care all that much about the size. All kids really need is a space for splashing. So, don’t feel like you have to give in to their pleas for a bigger pool. Chances are they’ll love any pool you install.

You’ll Have Room for More

Swimming pools are great, but you can only use them a few months out of the year, at least in most areas. As such, it’s not always smart to fill up the majority of your yard space with a pool. The kids might one day want a trampoline, or you might desire a fire pit or an outdoor workshop. By choosing a smaller pool, you’ll leave yourself some yard space for other fun additions.

You Won’t Run Yourself Ragged

Remember, the bigger the pool, the bigger the responsibility involved! When you choose a smaller pool, you’re choosing less maintenance and less hard work on your part. Even if you hire a professional service to maintain your pool, you’ll likely pay less the smaller your pool is.

Ultimately, it falls on you to decide what size pool you want. But, don’t just rush out and buy a big one without some thought. Instead, take the time to consider the pros and cons of pools of all sizes. You may just find that, for you and yours, small is the way to go.
